Unfortunately Leishmania is hard to cure if in the serious stages. The sores caused from cutaneous leishmaniasis will usually heal on their own. But that can take up to months or even years. This can also leave very ugly scars. Mucosal leishaniasis can go up to years without being noticed even after the sores have healed.
